ACCESSING THE CAMPUHAN RIDGE WALK

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is reachable on foot if you are staying in Ubud's center; simply move on to the section describing how to get there. Read the next section first if you're staying somewhere other than the Ubud town center.

If you feel comfortable riding a scooter or motorcycle in Bali, we highly recommend staying somewhere other than Ubud. Renting a scooter for about 80.000 IDR - 150.000 IDR per day (including a helmet) gives you the most freedom to travel and explore the areas around towns and cities. It is an affordable and practical method of transportation. Another choice is to use a taxi service for a half-day or full-day tour; almost all lodgings can provide you with more information on this.

If you're walking or renting a scooter from the Ubud center, simply head in the direction of the Warwick IBAH Luxury Villas and Spa. As soon as you enter, you'll see a road split, indicated by a second sign with IBAH written on it; take the left for the Campuhan Ridge Walk and the right for the IBAH Luxury Villas. We left our motorcycle here because it seemed to be the only option in the area if you were arriving by scooter because you can drive the scooter down to the parking lot at the bottom of the street before the bridge. Follow the steps that lead down before the bridge, which is then followed by a bridge. You can continue along the path into the Campuhan Ridge Walk after passing by a lovely Balinese temple.

WALKING THE CAMPUHAN RIDGE

You have thus arrived at the beginning of the Campuhan Ridge Walk. According to the signs, the walk should take about two kilometers, but we discovered that you can cut it short or make it as long as you like depending on where you want to go. The stroll continues formally all the way to the Karsa Cafe. However, halfway through the walk, you'll pass through a neighborhood of stores and eateries before arriving at the last stretch of rice fields (where the Karsa Cafe is located). The Campuhan Ridge Walk can be as long or as short as you like, depending on how much time you have. Spending anywhere between 30 minutes and two hours here is advised.

The path will lead you through rice fields after climbing and descending a hill, giving you a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Because it is so lush, green, and quiet, the path almost seems to exist in a different world, even though it is located right next to the bustle of Ubud. Going in the early morning or late afternoon is highly advised because it might get quite warm during the day. We arrived at sunrise and were one of the only visitors, so we had the entire view to ourselves. Take a leisurely stroll up and down the path while taking in the tranquility.
