One of the most stunning and distinctive waterfalls near the center of Ubud is the Tukad Cepung Waterfall, also known as the Cave Waterfall. This is also among the most popular tourist destinations in Bali. So, the real query is: Should you still go here, or should you search for a secret treasure? So let's get started and find out.
Tukad Cepung Waterfall
Tukad Cepung Waterfall access routes
This isn't too difficult, and it's clearly marked out. This waterfall in Bali is not a secret because it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ubud. Every time we visit Bali, we rent a scooter. Depending on who you rent from in Ubud center, this usually costs us between 80.000IDR - 150.000 IDR per day.
We completely understand if you are uncomfortable riding a scooter in Bali. You can also hire a driver for the day, so don't worry. For eight hours, this typically costs around 600.000 IDR. For families or large groups, this is ideal. If you plan to hire a driver, we strongly advise that you make the most of the day by exploring all the best nearby attractions, including the waterfalls near Ubud.

What to expect at the waterfall at Tukad Cepung
Okay, the moment we've all been waiting for. Do you need to go to Tukad Cepung? YES! We visited this waterfall for the first time in 2017, and even though a lot has changed, it is still incredibly beautiful. Although this location sees a lot of visitors every day, it is not as popular as the waterfalls in Munduk Bali (Northern Bali). Due to its distinctive formation, it is still something we wouldn't miss. After parking and paying the entrance fee of 10,000 IDR, there is still some work to be done. They had made major changes when we returned in 2019. The entire route down is now nicely paved. It only takes a little over 20 minutes to complete the hike at a leisurely pace.
